It was a big loss. The man made data come alive. He created excitement around statistics, and he mixed humor with his moving bubbles to "edutain" the public. He challenged many long-held myths in the global North about health and poverty in the developing world. He was incredibly start, thoughtful and engaging. He certainly left his mark. I hope his son will be able to continue his good legacy of promoting a fact-based worldview through Gapminder.

Hans Rosling an inveterate optimist and a good friend of the developing world. He used statistics to spread hope where there was despair and disillusionment. He will be dearly missed but hopefully will continue to send good vibes from the higher realms where he now abides….
