By Chidi Anthony Opara
I became a bard
When the world had borders.
I became a bard
Before the world wide web
Made our world borderless.
I became a bard
When telephones
Were found only in the abodes
And business places of biggies.
I composed ballads
And post to big cities
Where publishers abound.
My ballads bounced back
With messages from publishers
Berating me
For daring to be a bard.
