USA Africa Dialogue Series - Re: [Naijaintellects] TRUMP-LAND: FBI's Comey Nails President Trump on Two Counts (False Tweets and Possible Collusion)

Segun Dawodu:

I am usually of the opinion that in life what is going to happen will happen, either due to actions or inactions of certain people.   Obama's INACTIONS, according to you, may actually be ACTIONS to lead us to where we are.  We will never know whether if Obama was more forceful in supporting Clinton (he did so belatedly) or pointing the FBI to these Russian links, there would not have been a greater political uproar that would have hurt Clinton even more.

At this time, I believe that Trump is setting himself for a major personal fall, and he may eventually have to resign as President.  I strongly believe that there was a high level of collusion between his campaign and the Russians, and the US Intelligence is being careful to be completely comprehensive about their investigations - before major shoes drop.  Drip, drip, is how US investigations go, in a churning, churning manner....

And there you have it.  Popcorns while we watch this movie, anyone?

We got here because Obama negligently did not pay attention to the key matter at hand.
How can a president who did so much to create a legacy not be aware and take full throttle steps to protect that legacy like ensuring the right candidate was nominated for the DNC and not a weak and politically disabled candidate like Clinton.

We all have to enjoy the destruction of Obama legacy and also the installation of a SC judge that will turn everything upside down.

In every bad situation, it is good to look at opportunities. The confusion and uncertainty under this presidency may be a clue to doing fast deals and investments before things start to go south.

I am still with anger against Obama for not paying attention where it mattered.

My People:

Just these two pieces of information are sufficient to "pre-impeach" this Trump presidency:

1.  "With respect to the president's tweets about alleged wiretapping directed at him by the prior administration, I have no information that supports those tweets, and we have looked carefully inside the FBI," Comey said. "The Department of Justice has asked me to share with you that the answer is the same for the Department of Justice and all its components, the department has no information that supports those tweets"

2.  "I have been authorized by the Department of Justice to confirm that the FBI, as part of our counterintelligence mission, is investigating the Russian government's efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election," Comey told the House Intelligence Committee. "That includes investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government, and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia's efforts."  "As you know, our practice is not to confirm the existence of ongoing investigations, especially those investigations that involve classified matters," Comey said Monday. "But in unusual circumstances, where it is in the public interest, it may be appropriate to do so. This is one of those circumstances."

And there you have it.

FBI Director James Comey Finally Rebukes Donald Trump's 'Wiretap' Tweets

"The department has no information that supports those tweets."

WASHINGTON ― FBI Director James Comey on Monday directly rebuked President Donald Trump's claim that former President Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower.

Without providing any evidence (and apparently by relying upon media reports), Trump claimed earlier this month that Obama had wiretapped his office at Trump Tower during the 2016 campaign. Appearing before the House Intelligence Committee on Monday, Comey said he had no evidence that could back up the president's allegations.

"With respect to the president's tweets about alleged wiretapping directed at him by the prior administration, I have no information that supports those tweets, and we have looked carefully inside the FBI," Comey said. "The Department of Justice has asked me to share with you that the answer is the same for the Department of Justice and all its components, the department has no information that supports those tweets."

The House Intelligence Committee is looking into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Comey confirmed on Monday that the bureau is conducting an investigation into Russian interference with the 2016 election and potential ties between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.

The Justice Department on Friday provided the committee with information concerning the inquiry. The head of the committee and the ranking member have not indicated there is any reason to believe the Obama administration had wiretapped Trump.

"We know there was not a physical wiretap of Trump Tower," Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), who chairs the committee and is a Trump supporter, said at the hearing on Monday.
