Let it be stated clearly that it is the responsibliity of the current federal authorities to ensure peace and stability in Nigeria. No stone should be left unturned in the pursuant of that goal.
The federal authorities and the police have assured the nation that properties and persons will be protected any where in the country.
Nigeria does not deserve emergency rule at this stage of its development and as such in addition the federal government needs to assure the nation that the northern youth forum and or the northern elders have signed a statement voiding the northern youth forum's ultimatum to de-escalate tensions and prevent melee and mass exodus with tragic consequences.

Southern youths demand referendum
By Dapo Akinrefon
THE Southern Nigeria Youth Coalition, SNYC, has called on the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo to conduct a referendum for Southern Nigeria saying it will protect the rights of indigenous people of Southern Nigeria.
In a statement entitled: 'Referendum for Southern Nigeria now', leaders of the youth groups from the South West, South East and South South, however, warned that any violence unleashed on any Southerner in the North, would be seen as an "attack on the entire people of the South."
The statement was signed by Messrs Olajide Odumosu (OPC); Sunday Akinuoye (Oodua Liberation Movement, OLM); Oluwole Suleiman (Oodua Nationalist Coalition); Weri Digifa – Supreme Egbesu Assembly, Roland Pereotubo Oweilaemi (IYC President Worldwide), Chief Ani Esin, Michael Ekpo, Samuel Erhahon (Coalition of Edo State Youth; Godwin Okey Ozonweke, Kelvin Okereke and Chijioke Chukwunyere.
The youth leaders said the referendum was necessary following the ultimatum handed down by Arewa youths to Igbo to vacate the region by October 1.
The statement reads in part: "We of Southern Nigeria Youth Coalition (SNYC) comprising of all viable ethnic nationality Youth groups in Southern Nigeria have carefully gone through the letter by the Youths of Northern Nigeria extraction (Arewa Youths) to the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo to use his office to dismember the South Eastern part of Nigeria.
