Bloomberg News–Niger Delta Militants ask Northerners to Leave by Oct 1

Some groups of militants in Nigeria's southern Niger River Delta region asked northerners living there to leave, Daily Times newspaper reported. The call was a response to a statement earlier in June by some youth groups in the north threatening to forcibly remove members of the Igbo ethnic group, originating from the southeast, if they don't leave the region by Oct. 1.

The coalition of militants from the Niger Delta, the country's oil and gas producing region, gave the same deadline to northerners, Daily Times reported. They also threatened to attack oil wells owned by them, according to a statement published in the newspaper. Signatories were mostly previously unknown groups.

Let us show them that we are greater than the Hausa-Fulani people. Let us not expell those who have been living with us peacefully for centuries. Instead, let us call on the Hausa - Fulani in our region to consider our region home and thus be ready to fight and defend the region from outsiders. For this we declare all strangers that have been living in our Region as our own people.

We declare our Region a place of absolute freedom of worship and ideology which form part of our African heritage.

We call on Hausa-Fulani in our Region to join our quest for emancipation and let their children go to our schools with our children and even run for politcal office becuase we are building a nation. let them not go. Our Region is their Region. Let our people returning home from the North not revenge but rather baucase they speak the language of the North, they should use that to convince them that they are at home.

We share the values of freedom with Western Europe and America built by Christians. All those running away from Islamic countries, from Africa, from India, From Budhist and Hindu countries and even China only find dwelling only  in the countries built by Christians. This is a proof that Jesus Christ is the Saviour of mankind. No other place assures all of fredom and even give rights as nations founded by Chrisitans.

Since our Region has the influence of Christianity, we can buld a nation where no man is oppressed and we be blessed with peace and plenty.
