USA Africa Dialogue Series - RE: "Anyone that address me as a chief he...

How about people who call themselves "African Elders Who MUST BE Respected" in African/Nigerian Egroups but behave as Agbaya and Pikins! These people are NUSIANCE in the society, always cursing, bad-mouthing and calling names anywhere they are; yet they want to be regarded and called ELDERS! It's all the same title fevers that grip some Nigerians, whether they deserve a title or not. Normally, it is what we do that should win us regards, project our elderliness or wisdom, not what we WANT to be called (REGARDLESS!). Naija for you. JUI

I thought it is only the semi-illiterates and illiterates that craves for title in Nigeria, I don't know that a whole SAN will open his mouth and threatened to sue anyone calling him ordinary chief and not Are, which according to him is higher than a chief.
If you are Are, you are are to the man who installed you and not to other Nigerians.
Where in Yoruba history did the Alaafin of Oyo and his title mad lawyer friend found Are Bamofin?
As earlier suggested by somebody on this trend, it is better we all address this title crazy man as simply as Afe Babalola.
Afe Babalola, SAN, you have brought the greatest shame and disrespect upon both yourself and the Monarch who made you Are with the instruction attached to it.
I hope I have opportunity to address you in a public gathering, be sure, I will neither call you a chief or Are and will be prepared to meet you in court.
If Nigeria kangaroo court will bow to your stupid ranting, I will take you further to international and human right court and would still not to address you the way you desire unless you amend your birth certificate or make a deed that will include Are as one of your names.
Even at that, I will address you as Mr. Are Afe Babalola, without the inclusion of SAN.

........I have gone above chief. I am more than a chief. I was installed as Are Bamofin of Yorubaland by Alaafin of Oyo not by Elewi of Ado-Ekiti or Ooni of Ife. The day he made me Are, he made me to know that I am superior to any chief in Yorubaland and that I cannot and must not prostrate for any king in Yorubaland.........Cheif babalola

 Chief  Peter
I like chief babalola. look at his picture. he seems to get no respect as a university man...  these Chiefs without subjects can not go to sleep with out  pinching themselves to check for signs of life. !!!
But did you know what....He is a university campus chief !!.
I do not like the way this guy talks down on his  people in Yoruba Land...He said he is head and shoulders above the aboves. Even he is bigger than Oduduwa !!!

This chief is a puppy who wants to be noticed.
 He made a BIG MISTAKE...
He got a PhD..He went and assembled people with PhD...then thought his  PhD was better....Things are not working out well.
He went to Aalafin...who gave him  Are bafomi....Ooni does not bow to him. the ajewale does not call on him. The Deji gets more press. His University is not ranked. Students are not paying up in fees.
In short...things are not that well at closer look!
He even forgot to wear his Are Bafomi regalia to make his point !!!
I bet you the Ooni does not know that he exists since his title was from the Aalafin the Ooni is trying very hard to overshadow......go figure !.

chief   babalola......Kulu tempa......these are nothing but decorations ...just like honorary degrees you hand out to people who donate big chunks to your university.

i play tennis with the chief judge ..who is a chief.....that will not like it that you do not like chiefs. I will win in this chief's court.
I am a chief too. The Chief defender and you the chief litigant.. You see...you can not run away from being a chief..  NO WAY.

By the bushes and by the ways..why do you want to sue poor people?

bye chief

will keep blowing while relaxed
till they hear me

Are Afe Babalola

The founder of Ado-Ekiti-based Afe Babalola University and Ibadan-based Emmanuel legal Chamber, Are Afe Babalola today showed his anger at the Oyo State 2nd Economic Summit held at Jogor Centre, Ibadan because he was addressed as a chief not as Are.

His words, "I have three regrets to have attended this gathering. First, in the programme, I was addressed as a chief. I have gone above chief. I am more than a chief. I was installed as Are Bamofin of Yorubaland by Alaafin of Oyo not by Elewi of Ado-Ekiti or Ooni of Ife. The day he made me Are, he made me to know that I am superior to any chief in Yorubaland and that I cannot and must not prostrate for any king in Yorubaland. Anyone that address me as a chief henceforth will be sued to court."

Speaking further, he registered his displeasure that the summit did not attract enough people, adding that the business people that were supposed to turn up for the summit did not.

He said that Oyo State is richly endowed with human and natural resources but confronted with the failure to exploit these resources, adding that no government in the world could single-handedly develop either a state or the country.

His words, "Gone were the days when government provided all the needs of society alone. The truth of the matter is that no government anywhere in the world can do that alone any longer. The trend across the globe today is to involve public spirited citizens and organizations in the infrastructure, socio-economic and educational developmental projects of government."

Delivering his address tagged 'Imperatives and strategies for improving the competitiveness of sub-national economies in Nigeria", the founder of Lagos Business School/Pan African University, Pat Utomi said except true federalism is practised in Nigeria, revolution is imminent.

He advocated for regional police, judiciary that can give justice, change of value system, strong attention given to entrepreneurship and vocational studies.

He urged leaders to shift focus from paper qualifications to what an individual could contribute to the nation.

Utomi noted that except there is an avenue for all the states and region to compete for development just like what was the case during the period the nation was practicing regional government, the nation cannot develop economically.

The majority of those that attended the summit were journalists, civil servants and public servants. Governor Akala could not attend, though his deputy, Honourable Taofeek Arapaja, stood in for him
