USA Africa Dialogue Series - WORLD-CUP-SOUTH-AFRICA-2010: Final (July 11) Report: Spain Wins World Cup Over Netherland - as Correctly Predicted (Again!) by German Octopus Paul

Dear All:

Every good thing must come to an end.  World Cup 2010 South Africa (June 11 - July 11, 2010) has.

1.  Spain has deservedly won the World Cup 2010 - and for the first time ever.
2.  South Africa has organized a  successful World Cup - which happened for the first time ever on African soil.

3.  Nelson Mandela (at age 92) was able to watch the World Cup final - albeit very briefly at the venue before the match began before retiring to the comfort of his home TV.
4.  Europe had First (Spain), Second (Netherlands) and Third (Germany) Places. For that, I wished the Ghana-nemesis Uruguay (Fourth Place) had beaten Germany.
5.  Ghana did Africa proud - Uruguay notwithstanding - and we shall not forget Suarez, Gyan and Mensah quickly for preventing Ghana's advancement beyond the Quarter-Final stage.
6.  Nigeria nko?  Did not get past the group stage.  We hope to forget Kaita and Yakubu quickly.
7.  A legendary winner-predicting "psychic" octopus called Paul was born - how long it will last remains to be seen.
8.  Outstanding players for me: Forlan (Uruguay), Ayew (Ghana), Villa (Spain), Robben (Netherlands), Mueller (Germany), Messi (Argentina), Dos Santos (Mexico), Enyeama (Nigeria), Altidore (USA).

And there you have it.  See you in 2014 - Deo volonte!
