Hello Tamera:
Thank You. I am also learning. No single person can do it all and there are many who make it happen. That is what community building is all about - measurable objectives. We have to move beyond dancing and recreation for entertainment as the end in themselves. Africans have been dancing in all manners since the first landed in America donkey years ago - yet you do not see any systemic support for African Arts. When you take a look at how the Asians, Hispanic, Jews celebrate, the events are reflective of the gains and a powerful statement of their presence. Legislators ride in their parades. In the Newsletter, I usually include the include the links with Read on.

Yes, there are Africans bringing about change. We try to sensitize their work. For example, the advancement of Continental Africans in Indianapolis is a best practice. On Montgomery, we would be scheduling a forum with legislative staffers as part of the Six-Month Vision (Day on the Capitol) in Action. Joe Eyong of Councilwoman Valerie Ervin's office is a valuable contact. If you need specific contacts, let me know. The Next Strategic Meeting is on the Sept.11; not Sept. 6th. On a program on Africa's 50th, that is in the works.
SpotlightEssence. Africans In America: Turbo D'Afrique Opens African Heritage Month. Pioneers Changing Society with Actions. Filming History on Monday Sept. 6.

Hello MsJoe:
You are multi-talented and a sensitivity outlet! Awesome. Please allow me to say that your leadership and the substance of it make the community proud and you are respected by public officials for the clarity you bring to the issues and your focus on measurable objectives. Last week, I was talking to a couple of legislative staffers in Montgomery County and they always referred to you and the researched organizing.
I did not know of the communities and developments you have in the Newsletter. I would like to have the contacts of some of the leaders.
I also got the information on the New Beginning. I would like to participate in the next sessions. Through the combined efforts, we can develop a vital African Diaspora. Would you have a program on Africa at 50 years of political independence as the email from the New Beginning suggested?

Thank You and God Bless
Tamera
