To Pledgers
We are all doing good so far. Please continue to redeem your pledges by sending a check or money-order made out to "The Zik Legacy Project", and mail to either one of the following two Co-conveners' addresses:
Ms. Azuoma Anugom, PO Box 881352, Los Angeles, CA 90009, USA
or
Prof.. Mobolaji E. Aluko, PO Box 343, Burtonsville, MD 20866, USA
Kindly email BOTH of us PRIVATELY ( adaejiagamba08@yahoo.com , AND alukome@gmail.com ) when you actually send your pledge forth. We will rely upon your integrity. Pledge receipts will be updated periodically. Your money will be in good hands.
For those who have expressed preference for payment via PayPal option, please be patient since that cannot be activated until NAFA is fully registered (with all appropriate official documentation) and a bank account is established. (Post 9/11, PayPal is pretty strict about these things). Work is going on – but until then, we will still be happy to receive your checks and money orders.
We hope to have redeemed N1 million by November 1, in time for November 16, which would have been Zik's 106th birthday. If preferably we can raise N1 million by October 1 (50th Independence Anniversary), then it could be a great opportunity to highlight our appreciation for Zik's role in Nigeria's Independence struggle - among other things. We might even get some matching funds from Nigeria.
To those who have pledged, we urge you to sign up for a discussion group, if you wish, by clicking the following URL (or copying it onto your browser):

where instructions for joining will be found. Let us know if you have any problems.
We thank you all in advance.
News Item – NAFA is born
On Saturday September 4, following a teleconference attended by about 21 individuals, a decision was made to formally establish the Nnamdi Azikiwe Foundation for Africa (NAFA) to move the present cause forward on a formal basis. A 15-member Board of Trustees* was also tentatively established, with room for expansion.
We congratulate ourselves for this move, and hope that you will join hands with us.
We have therefore moved beyond the recent scurrilous attempt by some agents of discord to tar the fund-raising effort as fraudulent in an effort to dissuade us. We have made full disclosures throughout this exercise – about the condition of the Zik statues and mausoleum at Onitsha, about our fund-raising aims and goals, etc. - and hedged where we were not sure of all of the information. In this 50th Year of our Independence and beyond, the Zik project will go on – nothing else has been contemplated - despite all divisive antics against peaceful co-existence in Nigeria.
