| Court Dismisses all charges against El Rufai |
Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai, Former Minister in charge of Nigeria's federal capital of Abuja, was in Court today as Defendant for a charge of approving the grant of a plot of land for his wife. The charges were quashed and were discharged. The EFCC had conceded that the charges were filed under a non-existent law and in the wrong court.
Nasir el-Rufai was accused of misappropriating millions of Naira and faced corruption charges in after returning from self-imposed exile.
Justice Bello of the Federal High Court dismissed all charges filed and pending against Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
Rufai, a close ally of former president Olusegun Obasanjo, returned this year after two years in exile.
Rufai is suspected of misappropriating 32 billion naira of public funds when he was in office.
He is also alleged to have reclaimed land allocated to the electricity supply agency and given it to relatives.
The ex-minister has said in the media that the charges against him are politically motivated.
