Of course the French then utilized that space TO DO WHAT THEY HAD ALWAYS BEING DOING sans civil war; perpetuate their imperialist interests.
As for Mgamba's analogy 'bout the man raping his daughter; where that good Samaritan had been the one who forcefully deflowered the young girl at a tender age in the first place and had continued raping her for ages, sometimes with that same fathe holding her her legs down and spreading her thighs for the neighbour it would be madness to support either the father or the (anything but) good neighbour.

Simbeye and all members,
I like debating, and I am glad we can have a very credible debate.
As I said yesterday, Africa is full of shit and jokes. Fifty years after independence, you can still stand before men and women, and shamelessly blame colonialism or imperialism for your failures!
When Colonialists assist African governments through aid and loans, Tanzania included, they are praised and worshiped under the umbrella of donors or development partners. But when the very same people support opposition or denounce any violations of human rights done by the governments in Africa , they suddenly become imperialists or colonialists. This is cheap politics preached by those who either benefits from the corrupt regimes or are partners in looting and plundering the resources of Africa .
Who is imperialist? A father who rape her daughter because he is the head of the family, or a neighbour who try to rescue the entire family from being rapped by an insane father? I would rather support French colonialists or imperialists who have joined forces with Ivorian people to fight the culture of rigging and clinging on power as portrayed by Laurent Gbagbo and his colleagues.
Martin Luther once said, "Injustice anywhere is threat to justice everywhere". We can't pretend to ignore what happened in Ivory Coast simply because French has its interest there. This is not about French Imperialists but it's all about the justice in Africa . You have lost the election, concede the defeat, and leave as a hero, but if you are not ready, you will go the Gbagbo's way who fell from fame to shame.

WASHINGTON (AFP) — The United States said Tuesday it had proposed late last year that Ivory Coast strongman Laurent Gbagbo become a university lecturer in return for leaving power gracefully.
After the November 28 election, which Gbagbo was widely deemed to have lost, the "State Department did reach out to Mr Gbagbo's staff and contacts" to discuss his future, agency spokesman Mark Toner said. Among the possible options discussed during the calls that lasted through the end of 2010 were "potential positions that would draw on his previous background in academia," Toner told reporters.
"Visiting professor positions offered by universities to former leaders are contingent on the fact that these leaders are gracefully departed individuals who allow for a peaceful transition to democracy to take place.
"And let's just say the train's left the station on that, and we had stopped talking about that a while back," he continued.
Toner did not confirm reports that Boston University had offered Gbagbo a position.
In Nairobi, Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga said Gbagbo had stubbornly refused mediation offers and should have accepted a job as a lecturer at a US university.
Odinga, who was appointed in December as the African Union's envoy to the Ivorian crisis that erupted after the disputed November elections, said he had warned Gbagbo not to dig his heels in.
As he began the task of reconciling the divided west African nation, Alassane Ouattara announced "legal proceedings" were under way against Mr Gbagbo, his wife and political allies. Mr Ouattara dismissed calls for Mr Gbagbo, who is accused of atrocities against civilians, to be swiftly deported for trial and said "all measures" were being taken to protect him after his dramatic capture.
...Further details emerged on Tuesday about how Mr Gbagbo was captured and the moments after he was brought out of his bunker. A soldier with Mr Ouattara's forces said Mr Gbagbo was "trembling and sweating" as he was bundled into an armoured car wearing a bullet-proof vest for his own protection. "When forces got into the bunker, they found Gbagbo behind his desk, and the first thing he said was 'Don't kill me'," he said.
