.. To You, True Heroes! To Boladale Adekoya and his fellow Corps members nationwide on the occasion of their stepping out for the national assignment of today, 26 April, 2011! "Above all odds we set out again... Inspite of the bloodshed, we remain stronger. Our blood on the arena, our flesh on the polls… We are not discouraged, for this change we must make. Let our story be told, let our tales be remembered, For this clarion call is greater than our lives". - Boladale Adekoya (Member, Respect Nigerians Coalition and National Youth Service Corps member serving in Sokoto State on the occasion of his stepping out today with his colleagues to valiantly play their role in the election) Know that God is with you and your colleagues today! It is humbling to know that while merchants of mayhem may have done their worst and might even be planning to top themselves, fear is not your portion! You shake not even as those we've given power and authority to secure us play the politics of death in guffawed self-satisfaction, scoring cheap points on the cheap campaign that's, by their own warped reality, still on! Of course, you - every one of you - are men and women of history! Those who died holding the flaming banners of this nation to their charred remains shall forever be emblazoned in our consciousness as heroes! When the nation is taken by the forces that toil for it, they shall be resurrected in full glory, in the minds of the present and in the eyes of the future! Their names shall never be footnotes in our national history, but the history itself! I wish you had better security today! I wish I can tell you not to walk out that door into that contrived cauldron of hate! But seeing that you are braver than those that stole the people's will with guns and armoured tanks; seeing that you're more honourable than the stealers of the people's vote and seeing that you're walking with your heads held high in honour, I fall at your feet, Great Patriots! I fall at your feet to proclaim the birth of a new Nigeria, not on the strength of electoral fraud or disputations; but on the Blood of the Innocents that wear the Uniform of Knowledge! You have gone through the four walls of universities and other tertiary institutions, tutored by men who today may not be worthy of tying your shoe laces, because you have grown into gods in our pantheons of heroes! You stand head and shoulder above whatever we have ever produced in over fifty years of national education and youth mobilization! Yes, get out there and shame the manic mob! But do not try to be brave to prove you're heroes. You are heroes already and nothing can take that away! Band together with your mates and use whatever security available to keep safe! We need you back with us! We need you to lead our tomorrow to even a better tomorrow! You are the key to our future! Do not get lost! Well done, Valliant Soldiers of the Nation, the Face of Our Hopeful Future! Well done! (Copy, paste and spread all over! Let this be your tribute to these gallant young men and women!) … |
