My question then to my Muslim brothers and Christians, what good would it do to you to force Islamic banking and your secular currency to peoples throat if you on the last day you spend eternity in hell? Do not be confused by the tricks of the Great Satan! Repent and believe in your God or you shall perish with your money. God Almighty should be praised and adored. Neither your Islamic bank or any bank on earth would save Nigeria, unless we rent and turn from our wicked ways: Hear oh ye Nigerians. Our God is one. Soul that sin must die!--Dr Chima Ahanotu
Chima:
You might be an erudite Professor in your field of study but you do not sound
convincing as a Christian preacher. You send out too many mixed messages!
So where is the truth in this statement lifted from your post?:

Who is forcing Islamic banking down the throat of any man or woman who does not want to patronize
Islamic Banks in Nigeria?
The role of the educated elites in a society is to study an issue and explain the pros and cons to the masses
in a manner in which the masses can understand. The elites should not be proclaiming on issues based
on their biases (in this instance ethnic hatred and religious intolerance) but rather on their knowledge of
the issues.
On the Islamic Banking issue, people like you are making Christians look bad, when the opposite
should be the case. It is wrong to apply Biblical principles or prism when studying an issue such as Islamic Banking
or Sharia which are based on the beliefs of our other co-compatriots who are not Christians.
No one will be dragged into the premises of Islamic Banks to make a deposit or transact other businesses.
All Nigerians, both Christians and Muslims have the right to demand that proper guidelines are put
in place to ensure that the proceeds from Islamic Banks are not diverted to fund terrorist organizations
either in Nigeria or abroad and that such designated banks do not enjoy any privileges that are denied
to other Nigerians.
It is already on record that 60% of Nigerians who hold investments in foreign Islamic Banks are of Igbo
descent (of whom probably 99.9999% are Christians.) When we add the percentage of non-Igbo Christians
of SS, SW and northern Nigerian origin who have also invested in Islamic Banks, we would probably
be looking at a figure that is close to 80%.
What these figures tell us is that there is undoubtedly a demand for Islamic Banking products by Nigerians
who are either seeking higher returns from their investments or safety of deposits their as well as those
who will be patronizing these banks for religious reasons.
There is a virtue in the adage : "Live and Let Live". Until we all arrive at the gates of heaven on judgement
day, we would never know which adherents of any of the world's religions will be guaranteed salvation and
immortal life in heaven and which ones will be sent to burn in hell. Until then our beliefs are just speculations
as no one has died gone to heaven or hell and return to tell us what it is like up there.
Until 300 to 400 years ago non of our African ancestors ever had anything about Jesus Christ or Mohammad.
Yet they lived their lives, worshiped the almighty God in the ways their own ancestors bequeathed to them.
I find it hard to believe that the Almighty God would consign the fate of hundreds of millions of our Ancestors
and Billions of human beings who lived on earth before the advent of the great religions to hell because they
did not practice or live their lives according to the tenets of some foreign religions they never encountered
during their sojourns on earth.
As I have written earlier, I do not see any difference between a Credit Union, an alternative to a traditional bank
and an Islamic Bank. I do not see myself ever patronizing an Islamic Bank or buying any of their investment
products--not necessarily because I do not like the idea but simply because I prefer most things I do be
mainstream rather than exotic. I have many options to chose from amonsgt the non-Islamic traditional banks in Nigeria.
Similarly, I would not by choice live in a jurisdiction where the Sharia Law is imposed on every citizen because
I find many of the stipulations in the Sharia codes too primitive and too onerous. I have the option to move and live
in another jurisdiction!
Again, Live and Let live!
Bye,
Ola

Folks,
Noone can save this world but God. Money and everything that comes with it is in most part evil. We cannot serve God and Satan at the same time. Vatican can say all they want, as Christians we can only preach the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. On the other hand, let Muslims preach the sermon based on their religion and let the state be. God has no delight in your gold and silver. He does not delight in your fancy banks but your faith in Him and love of mankind. Islamic banking or not unrighteous man or woman is unrighteous.
The ordinary Nigerian Muslim in Kaduna who has not banked all her life would not because Islamic bank is next door take her money to the Bank of Ryyad. It is your Doctors, Lawyer, and their kind that know the system of this world that would bank in you Bank of Jerusalem or Bank of Mecca. The elites brought Sharia in many states of the north, how far has this helped the common man? Is it not one of the propnent of Sharia that was caught marrying an under age Egyptiam girl? Till date we do not know what happened to to that case, rather we hear of young women and men being harrased.
My point is that every Nigerian man or woman must worship God of their hearts and totally surrender their life to God. I can give Ibrahim $5,000.00 if he do not know how to manage moneyin Diamond Bank, he still would not know how to do the same in Bank of Jida. Folks, let's face the reality. So long as we are in the world, flesh and blood are of this world and the Spririt is of God. We must continue to worship God in spirit and in truth. As for me what matters to me most is my eternity. You can have your Islamic bank in every corner of the world, my goal is to serve God of my heart in every corner of my life. Ask those routing for Islamic bank hoe their faith is, and you would be amazed that they neither believe in the message of Islam or Christianity.
Islamic finance may be cure for crisis, Vatican suggests ..
As world markets suffer under the weight of the ongoing global financial crisis, the Vatican has put forward a new suggestion, arguing that the principles of Islamic finance may represent a possible cure for ailing markets.
The Vatican's official newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano, recently published an article titled "Islamic finance proposals and ideas for the West in crisis," prepared by Italian economists Loretta Napoleoni and Claudia Segre, in which it was suggested that the basic rules of Islamic finance could relieve suffering markets and particularly international financial systems. Noting that Islam prohibits "riba," Arabic for the usurious loaning of money, the article argued that "sukuk bonds," securities that comply with Islamic law, may be an alternative to interest. The article stressed that sukuk bonds are always real investments and never speculative.
The article said that in this atmosphere of crisis banks should take Muslims as an example and that the Islamic finance system may pave the way for the establishment of new rules in the Western world. The Vatican has suggested that the current capitalist system has failed. Pope Benedict XVI recently harshly criticized the capitalist system and the greediness of bank owners in the West. In the meantime, the Vatican itself has been badly affected by the crisis. It had recorded an 18 billion euro budget surplus in 2007, but this number had declined to 6 billion euros by the end of 2008 and is expected to fall further in 2009.

Chima, the Vatican actually proposed that financial institutions should "take a look" at Islamic finance as it may provide a solution to the global financial melt down. This is not a bad idea and we are actually doing what the Vatican proposes, because we are taking a very critical look at Islamic finance and how Sanusi wants to implement it in Nigeria. Those of us who have read the guidelines are drawing attention to the flaws in it. --- On Thu, 7/28/11, Chim Ahanotu <celebrateng@yahoo.com> wrote:
