The Amistad Committee of Central Connecticut State University is proud to announce
that Professor Babatunde Alfred Zack-Williams is the 2013 recipient of the Amistad Award.
The Committee recognized his outstanding contribution to scholarship related to human rights and
empowerment. The Tenth Anniversary of the Amistad Lecture Series was attended by
the President, Provost, Deans and numerous Faculty, students and members of the community.
The Artists' Collective Ensemble performed during the accompanying banquet.
Among previous recipients of the Amistad Award are Professor Toyin Falola and
Professor Paul Tiyambe Zeleza. The co-chairs of the committee are Professor Gloria Emeagwali
and Professor Olusegun Sogunro.
