SAN FRANCISCO, February 25, (THEWILL) – Chief Tony Anenih has been elected Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees after a meeting of the party at the presidential villa in Abuja attended by President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President Namadi Sambo, Senate President David Mark, House of Representatives Speaker, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, PDP chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim.
The decision to pick Anenih as Bot Chairman followed the establishment of a verification committee led by Prof. Jerry Gana to streamline the membership of the board in order to block members sympathetic to former president Olusegun Obasanjo from voting.
Others at the meeting include Chief Alabo Tonye Graham-Douglas, Gen. Mamman Magoro (rtd), Gen. David Jemibewon (rtd), Alhaji Muhammad Bello-Haliru, Chief Vincent Ogbulafor, Chief Dan Etiebet, Mrs Kema Chikwe, Chief Adolphus Wabara, Chief Alex Ekwueme, Abdulkadir Kure, Sen. Ahmad Makarfi, Chief Olabode George, Alhaji Adamu Mu'azu, Chief Barnabas Gemade, Sen. Danjuma Goje, Alhaji Iro Mantu, Sen. Ken Nnamani, Hassan Adamu, Hajiya Inna Ciroma, Dalhatu Sarki Tafida, and Alh. Maina Waziri and several others.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) later issued a statement describing his unanimous election "as a bold step towards ensuring peace and harmony within the ranks of the Party."

THEWILL had previously reported earlier today that Anenih had emerged the candidate to beat following the successful plot to streamline the numbers of those eligible to vote during the BoT Chairmanship election.
One source close to the politician popularly referred to as 'Mr. Fix it' told THEWILL before Monday's meeting that Anenih had been adopted unofficially as the Chairman of the BoT adding that a speech had been prepared and will be issued to the media "as soon as the meeting is concluded."
