"Bros Chidi,
Have you considered some mandicant Orders within the Catholic Church,
such as the Franciscan and Dominican Orders? If "know[ing]" means
meeting any of them or reading about their spirituality, then that is
cool but the Constitutions and spiritualities of these Orders
glamorise
poverty: being poor for them is a matter of choice not social
circumstance, and it is not a matter of being "poor in
spirit" (Mat5.3)
but also in material things of life: not owning property.
It is more interesting for me to ask what is it that is in poetry and
nowhere else that makes poets "the only group of people I know who
see
being poor as glamorous"? I am eager to learn more about this "Poetic
Ethic and the Materiality [Spirit] of Poverty" please.
-----Asonzeh.
Asonzeh,
I do not usually reply to comments on my poetry and/or quotes, but let
me do that.
I am not conversant (and have not bothered to be) with the
"constitution and spiritualities of these orders" you mentioned.
As for "Poetic Ethic and the Materiality [Spirit] of Poverty", you
will have to meet literary scholars (I am not one, you know who I am).
My quotes are products of my observations.
I am done with this.
Be well brother(Sister?)
CAO.
