I remember reading in a 'how to get published' book around five years
ago that the Internet Poets are coming and I've been chasing the dream
of becoming a well known poet ever since. Poetry is experiencing a new
revival – with both internet poets and slam poets breaking away from
traditional paper- based poetry publications and anthologies we all
learned to hate at school. The upswing is entirely due to these new
media.
Traditional editors are only interested in promoting poets already on
their books – and those poets, although they maybe wrote good poems
(say) ten years ago, may no longer be doing so - but still they get
promoted in a static market. This paradigm self-sustains and there is
no room for new-ness..........
