Of course, most African militaries have usually acted opportunistically and have been quite oppressive when they had the opportunity to exercise power. Nevertheless, what exactly has the AU done for the poor masses? The military is oppressive; the AU merely observes and makes declarations but does not do anything substantive to alleviate the sufferings of the masses. This is the point! So, in view of what is currently taking place in Egypt, all the AU could do was suspend Egypt. What impact do you think that suspension would have on worsening economic, social and political conditions in the country?
