                Affordable Care Act
             Obama Care
  And the Continental African Community
Dr. Nadine Gracia, US Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services

The Obama Administration is reaching out to various communities (Hispanics, Asians, Jewish, etc,) to explain the process and benefits of the new health policies that will take effect from October 2013.

On July 10, 2013, the Obama Administration's US Assistant Secretary Health and Human Services Dr. Nadine Gracia will be meeting with the  African community (Continental African  community).

The event will take place at the Ghana Embassy at 3512 International NW Dr, Washington, DC. This is a community-driven initiative and the  community is the host. Therefore, the partnership participation and voice from the community are prioritized in addressing options that would  improve the overall health of the community.

Dr  Garcia will explain the pertinent details of Affordable Health Act "Obama Care" and the community may  engage  her in a mutual dialogue. The details range from options for the uninsured, collection of health data to understand the presence of disease in the African community in order to address them, and closing  health disparities with equitable resources.

In view of the importance of the issues, individuals,  community organizers, faith-based groups, businesses, organizational  representatives, and health providers  are  highly encouraged to attend this interactive exchange, which opens with networking among attendees. You may bring information from your organizations. Working together on common front is the desirable way forward.

Members of the press who intend to cover the event can download the  press accreditation form from the website of the Ghana Embassy www.ghanaembassy.org
(http://www.ghanaembassy.org/) . Each press  person is to fill the form appropriately but leaving out questions 10 to 23.  Each press person is to attach his or her one passport size
photograph.
Please, do not hesitate to contact me if you need further information on the press process. Volunteers are working to accommodate the press.

In order to ensure that you have a seat, please let us know you are coming, how many, and if you are representing an organization.   If you want to be a community sponsor, your extended hand is appreciated. The event is free but we will need volunteers for coordination. You can  find out how you can assist in this first step initiative.

Respectfully,
Evelyn Joe
