Felix Kayman you are not far from the truth at all !!!!! Well, it is not intentional to communicate in my local dialect, I was only disgusted by the raised issue and comment because whoever worth his or her salt will always thread the path of honour. Without meeting with Prof Aluko at all, a few things he has been posting on the group discuss shows the kind of person he can be categorised to be. In all honesty, there is no way any other language can convey my feelings and belief about the issue and comment of discuss including the comment; Prof na true? Shame on you! as Yoruba language (and I am very proud of that anyway). There are some things people will say about a well known or a close person that one will stand up for that person knowing that such a thing cannot be done by the person in question. It is better to give a benefit of the doubt and wait to confirm rather than passing a judgemental comment that is in the affirmative.
My comment was that
I never believed that rubbish for a second because I know it cannot be true. Whoever worth his salt will not dance to such music. Prof continue your work.
Oju ti o ba role ni Irore nso!!!
It is on a soft and an unserious person's face that pimples grow!!!
egbe nbi gbo; kii se oro ojo ori;
Is it because of being on the same level or what; it is not a matter age
Olorun ko nii je kari ina ni kanga.
No matter what, fire will not burn in the well (the fire will always be quashed by water)
I am sure that Olugbenga Ojo will provide the translations to his rich Yoruba proverbs in due course. However, Pa Ikhide's original post came across as judgemental. It would have been sufficient to ask: Prof na true? in relation to the article about Prof Aluko. But when he [Pa Ikhide] concludes with: Shame on you! It suggests that he has passed a judgement. That may account for Olugbenga Ojo's proverbial submissions - but as I stated, I am sure that he would provide us with translations that would help us understand the weight that he assigns to Pa Ikhide's statement.--
