Bio-Sketch: Susan J Brison
Professor Susan Brison is Chair of the Department of Philosophy at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, United States of America. She has a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in Philosophy and has been a visiting professor at Princeton, among other U.S. universities. She works primarily on controversies concerning freedom of expression and on the problem of gender-based violence.
Susan's published works include her 2002 book "Aftermath: Violence and the Remaking of Self" which has been translated into French and German and is regularly assigned as a required text in undergraduate and graduate courses at many universities in the U.S. She has also published numerous articles in scholarly journals as well as in more popular venues such as the New York Times and The Guardian. At the moment she is working on two books: "Speech, Harm, and Conflicts of Rights" and then "Debating Pornography" both of which should be completed in 2014.
