My dear Brother Kojo:
Many thanks for your wise and courageous message! As a seasoned Economist, you know very well that Africa's real problems are left untouched by many of our leaders, who keep on complicating matters with private issues, like homosexuality. You are correct: who are we to judge?
I read this morning from the newspapers that president Mugabe turned 90 years old, and he said he felt like a 9 year old. In his celebratory mood, he urged Zimbabweans to resist homosexuals. Does he not see that continuing to rule Zimbabwe for over 30 years and at 90 years old are part of the country's major problems?
Well, hope that these leaders won't prove Conrad right: that our continent is a heart of darkness! J
A.B.

Subject: RE: Is Africa the most homophobic continent in the world?
My Dear AB,
It seems as if we definitely are. I must confess that ten years ago I was near certain of my position, but I have also “evolved”. Who are we to judge anybody who is not bothering anybody? The holier than thou stands of our leaders makes one wonder if they have thought through them or are just emoting. But, again, who are we to judge?
