I will stop responding to your replies if you persist that I contact both or either Ernest Koroma and his APC and/or the SLPP. Every four years your (sincerely yours) APC murdered my people. Beginning with Brigadier John Amadu Bangura, Majors Fara Jawara and S.E. Momoh, and Lieutenant Kolugbondah in 1971; Dr. Mohamed Sorie Forna, Ibrahim Taqi, Brigadier David Lansana et al in 1975; and Sam Bangura in 1979.
Nine of the twenty four officers that were executed under the instructions of your friend Tejan Kabbah--for the coup that ousted him-- were Temnes/Themnes, though the leader of the coup Sergeant-Major Zagallo Sankoh and the Head of the AFRC junta Johnny Paul Koroma were Limbas.
I had to demonstrate my Yoni wisdom--to debunk the rubbish that we are "all hat and no cattle"--by offering my opinion on a very salient issue. I am biological related to every tribe in Sierra Leone, though there are some members of particular tribes that would love to eliminate us the GENUINE BANGURAS, but this will never TRANSPIRE.
For your information the Wuries are not Temnes/Themnes but Fullahs. This deception was very prominent in the case of S.I. Koroma who paraded as a Temne--his mother was a Temne from Port Loko-- though he was a Madingo/Malinke.
Are you accusing my Temne/Themne people of "shoot first and ask questions later!"?
You should be aware when the Lord our God assigned the twelve sons of Jacobs as the 12 Tribes of Israel, with the exception of the Agers, Dans, Issachars, Judah's and Zebuluns the rest were designated as warriors. Consequently, the notion that we do not deliberate is part of the condescending narrative. In an earlier response I had depicted that our rigidity created this characterization.
Prior to the Stevens and his APC administration of April 1968, the Temnes/Themnes were the most empathetic, impartial and virtuous of all the ethnic groups in Sierra Leone. But hence most of them have emulated all that they had detested, therefore, the country has gone to the dogs. Most of the Temnes/Themnes used to be missionaries, now they are all mercenaries.
The utilization of code words permeates our Sierra Leonean community in the United States, and you may dislike it as much as you want but most employ these denigrating terms to feel superior.
Full disclosure, I was an avid APC supporter for the March 1967 General Elections. The allegiances of the Paramount Chiefs were insignificant because the APC had a slim majority amongs them. Obscure to Margai and the SLPP were the facts that four of their former SLPP candidates, Prince Williams, Kutubu Kai-Samba, L.A.M. Brewah and J.B. Francis who had ran as independents--because Sir Albert Margai had not given them the party symbol-- and won had promised to join the APC to not only retaliate against his (Margai) decision but also detested his idea of transforming the country into a one party state with an Executive president who will be above the constitution and all the laws of the land.
Another moniker of the March 1967 General Elections was the "32-32" elections, because while Margai and the SLPP had included the four parliamentary seats of Kai-Samba, Brewah, Williams and Francis for a total of 32 seats, Stevens and his APC's calculation were 32 plus the 4 seats of the aforementioned for an aggregate of 36 seats.
S.I. Koroma ridiculed all the opposition--SLPP and the United Democratic Party--of his APC with his license plate number of his blood red Mercedes Benz which was NP (Northern Province) 3232.
Why should we depoliticize the Chieftaincy and the Army? The Chieftaincy is comparable to Governors in the United States, and they should be more empowered and therefore be a laboratory for the presidency.
Revisiting history, Sir Albert Margai's wife Lady Esther nee Lansana was the younger sister of Brigadier Lansana which was the former's modus operandi to elevate the latter as the first indigenous Force Commander of the Army.
Then Colonel John Amadu Bangura a Loko-Temne (father Loko and mother Temne) was denied the opportunity that was given to Lansana by Margai. In 1966 Bangura and all the senior Northern officers in the Army were arrested, detained but not charged by Margai and his SLPP for a phantom coup. The Mendes are suppose to be legalistic, but their legalism did not apply to Bangura and the various officers.
Rhetorically, why wouldn't Bangura want to retaliate against Margai and his SLPP? Please be reminded that as humans were are endowed with pride, guilt and shame. As we say in Creole, "Hart nor tan lek stone" (We are humans).
The promotions from colonels to brigadier generals in the US Armed Forces, and their equivalents in the Navy are made by the Secretaries of the different factions and sanctioned by the Secretaries of Defense. The selection of the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff is made by the president.
If Sierra Leone functions appropriately as a true democracy we would not be bothered with the politicization of the Paramount Chiefs and the Army.
