This is one helluva virus. It is a virus from hell. Those who felt that I was crazy to question the slow reaction
of the international community should think again. If an appropriate speedy response
had been launched in June, July or even August, we would have been in a better position today.
An epidemic waits for no one.
May all the victims of the ebola virus rest in peace. If created in someone's laboratory
or the result of bungling at a Kanema laboratory in Sierra Leone, then may all those
involved meet an appropriate response - whatever that may be.
We extend our appreciation to the Nigerian authorities for working steadfastly to
halt the epidemic. Extreme concerted vigilance is still absolutely necessary.
