brother Ishmael, you have hit on an important issue. However, in my post-1966 interview with Ghana's late president Kwame Nkrumah (in Guinea, where he was in exile), I queried him about the former Kenyan VP Oginga Odinga's book, "Not Yet Uhuru", because he wrote the foreword to that book. I also queried him (in my then bold journalistic days as an Editor in Liberia) because President Kenyatta was supposed to be his best friend, with whom he served as Co-Secretaries of the 1945 Pan-African Conference in Manchester, UK.
Do you know Nkrumah's response: he said he felt the need to write the foreword to "Not Yet Uhuru" because Mr. Odinga was correct:: there was NO Uhuru anywhere in Africa, not even in his own Ghana, which led the way in 1957 with independence from Great Britain. "Ghana, since February 24, 1966 is under a neo-colonialist control, with a military coup," he said almost in tears!
So, I totally agree with you, my dear Brother, that it is not only in Kenya, but almost everywhere in Africa, there is YET to be a true Uhuru!
Brother A.B.
