What a waste of the valuable time of some Nigerians in London, England. Buhari addressed his audience at his Chatham House meeting on time. He was not "tied-up somewhere". He was "tied up somewhere" when it was time for him to meet with Nigerians in London. Is that not very telling? Nigerians can be bluntly and fiercely critical. Was that a concern of the APC? Do Nigerians London, gathered in wait for a man absolutely determined to govern them, not deserve to know where, who with, and why the man was tied up? Was the truth about Buhari's "no show" in London told to them? What was going on? The disingenuous excuse made to explain his failure to show up at that meeting speaks for itself.
Chief Oyegun would be expected to know that in London, serious leaders who accept an invitation to attend scheduled political meetings do not fail to show up at the meeting because they are "tied up somewhere". What a vacuous excuse. The leaders respect their waiting audience. Full explanations are always given to them. Places in London have coordinates and names and coordinates. In London, somewhere means nowhere. It raises a strong suspicion of a wily intention to mislead others. Responsible people may run late but usually for good reasons such as, earlier scheduled meetings' time over-run, traffic delays, and unforeseen but explainable, shareable developments. They manage to make the schedule meeting at the end of the day. When they cannot, they reschedule. Why did Buhari not show up however late he had to? Why the thinly veiled attempt to deceive Nigerians? Again, what was going on? Is there anything the APC does not want Nigerians to know about?
Given the rife speculation on Buhari's state of health, his minders should know to be fully forthcoming whenever he does not show up at scheduled public events. To fail to do so is to spice the grounds for gossip and imagination to run riot. Oyegun's "tied up somewhere" falls short of what was reasonable and helpful to say on that occasion. Was Oyegun's "tied up somewhere" another case of "I dey come" when in fact the one was doing anything but- actually leaving. Everyone must figure out for themselves why Buhari did not show up to have a conversation with long suffering, patiently waiting Nigerians in London. If elected, would Buhari and his APC government accept to be accountable to Nigerians? I wonder.

Subject: USA Africa Dialogue Series - APC owes Nigeria an explanation: Buhari fails to show up again!
ALL Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate General Muhammadu Buhari disappointed thousands of his UK supporters again yesterday by failing to show up for an interactive session organised in southeast London. This is the second time within a week that General Buhari has failed to show up at meetings organised in London and it is certain to fuel talk about the state of his health and whether he is in the UK for medical reasons. To ameliorate the effect of his absence yesterday, party chairman Chief John Oyegun, publicity secretary Alhaji Lai Mohammed and Kaduna State gubernatorial candidate Mallam Nasir El-Rufai stepped in to address the party faithful. Hosted by Nigerian evangelical church Everlasting Arms Ministries on Old Kent Road in south London, yesterday's interactive session offered members of the APC's UK chapter the opportunity to ask their leaders several questions. Thousands had thronged to the venue hoping to see General Buhari himself was Chief Oyegun apologised for his absence saying the general was tied up elsewhere.
