RE: USA Africa Dialogue Series - Chatham House and RAS host Buhari tomorrow in London

Visiting London has never been the concern. The reason for the visit is. Obama, McCain, and some other aspiring US presidential election candidates visit London to demonstrate their foreign policy competency, confidence, and mastery. Buhari visits London for completely different reasons. He like many before and around him, believes deep in his soul that he owes fealty to London. UK election politician reciprocate the US favor I might add. They visit the US too. Their exchange is one of equals. They never visit Abuja. Nigerians should have the courage, discernment, and good-sense to ask why the traffic is one way only?

That it is convenient to attribute politics as my object does not make the attribution true.

An Igbo proverb reminds us that if one moves ashes with the one's soup bowl, neighbors may excrete into it.

AO,

The majority of the folks Buhari will be addressing today will be Nigerians. The person in charge of organisation is a good friend of mine who is a Nigerian, raised in Nigeria, run social events for Nigerians! You are just playing politics; you know it, I know it and everybody on this board knows it.

For some reasons, going to London seems to be a fixation for politicians running for office from around the world. The then Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain visited London and addressed organisations similar to Chatham House back in 2008. Mitt Romney was here four years later.

Indian and Pakistani politicians regularly visit London before political general elections. I have Pakistani friends with whom I have attended some of these events.  So please stop playing the colonial-mentality card.

Buhari is not the one who was sympathizing with France during the Charlie Hebdo murder - it's GEJ who forgot that  2000 people - to whom he swore an oath to protect as Commander-in-Chief - died from the hands of Boko Haram.

Yes, people should go to Chatham house today and ask the man serious questions; ranging from the state of his health to the substance behind his campaign rhetoric.

As somebody on this forum loves to say, and there you have it!

Shola
