CHEKWAS OKORIE ACCEPTS JONATHAN'S OFFER OF DEBATES
NIGERIA, Abuja; February 1, 2015: The Chekwas Okorie Presidential Campaign Organization (COPCO) has noted with delight the Peoples Democratic Party's Presidential Campaign Organization's challenge to meet General Buhari at any venue or media outlets of his choice for debates. In a statement issued by Chief Fani Kayode, President Jonathan promised to show up in any debate with General Buhari that he (Buhari) chooses. This was in reaction to the announcement by Buhari's party (the APC) that he would not participate in the scheduled presidential debates.
Chief Chekwas Okorie, the presidential candidate of the United Progressive Party (UPP), hereby accepts President Jonathan's offer for multiple debates outside the debates organized by the Nigeria Election Debate Group (NEDG). "While PDP waits for Buhari's response, I accept the offer and in particular I invite and challenge President Jonathan to at least one debate to be held in any city of his choice in the South East and at least one debate in a city in the South-South of Nigeria," Chief Okorie said today in Abuja.
We note with appreciation former Governor Donald Duke's admonition to President Jonathan during a recent PDP campaign swing in Cross River State to bring charity home, after having done charity in other parts of the country. Chief Okorie and the UPP look forward to a focused debate with President Jonathan on the long sufferings of the people of South East and South- South, where virtually none of the promises made by the president four years ago has been kept.
