Although not a lawyer, I seriously doubt that there is a law that forbids Mr. President, or any Nigerian citizen, from publicly declaring his/her assets. If the law does not expressly require that the president declares his assets publicly, I still believe that he will be setting a wonderful example for the entire nation (and especially all the other politicians) by doing so. If there is no skeleton in the cupboard (and I am not suggesting that there is, because I simply do not know), we should be willing to shine light in it. The success of the new administration is the success of the long-suffering Nigerian masses!

"Buhari is president. I wish him well." oa.
That is what he needs for now. What people promise during campaigns without any recourse to the law will always put them in trouble.
President Buhari must fulfill his promise by declaring publicly his assets. But then, does the law allow him to do so even though he has made a promise to do so? Will he not be violating the law and the oath of office if he does it?
Maybe his lawyers will come to his rescue.
