I would prefer readers to scrutinize the sources on their own time. I will note that Bronwyn (the VOA source) raised some questions about the migration numbers:

1. Some refugees from other nations might be claiming Eritrean citizenship bc Eritreans get an "automatic greencard."
2. not all Eritrean refugees are political refugees. Many are fleeing a poor economy. Some economic refugees might exaggerating their narratives for a better outcome in Europe
3. Eritrean president Afwerki has indicated that the mandatory conscription was relaxed. And that a large number of Eritrean men were released from mandatory labor. She wonders if that might explain some of the surge
