hi all, again in the spirit of tremendously warm feelings, a most happy
new year to all. the dialogue here, even when acrimonious, has been very
enriching. i agree that a spirit of cordiality is ideal
i wanted to respond to gloria's points below.
first, friends at today's new years party were very skeptical that trump
would actually get the nomination, and one pol among us hoped he would
since he didn't have a chance of getting elected. i reminded him that
hitler won w 40% of the vote, and it wasn't worth taking any chances
with extremists like trump who could lead us down the path of fascism.
i wonder, however, whether rubio wouldn't actually represent a more
substantial threat to the hilary machine.
on point 5, my fear is not of the rice of neo-nazis in germany. germany
seems better equiped at resisting neofascist parties than maybe any
other european state. but the east europeans are not at all like that.
between what i read of many of them, from poland to hungary to many
others, they are already espousing far right politics, and are as
xenophobic as they come. very very unsettling, and the future of europe
is far from settled. when the french presidential elections come around,
soon enough, marine lepen now represents a real threat.
europeans hate muslims, in large percentages. that bodes very badly for
those wanting peace.
peace only, people
