C1520194:
You asked the question that everyone is trying to comprehend.
============================================================ ============================== =====
Dr. Chika Onyeani, former Nigerian diplomat, author and publisher of the African Sun Times, was the first Chairperson of the AU Diaspora Task Team. This year, he reported live from Addis Ababa, the unfolding of the January 2016 Summit. In his usual way, he provided a colorful account of his journey and noted the rise and influence of women at the AU during the tenure of H.E. Dlamini-Zuma. In July, he was invited by the AU Commission as a panelist on media reporting on Agenda 2063 at the AU Summit in Kigali, Rwanda but did not make it due to conflict of schedule.
All who were tuned can recall his dogged campaign to have a candidate from a democratic (with a president elected in a free and fair election) Member State replace H.E. Dlamini Zuma after she chose not to run for reelection. He was particularly proud of her record. Again, in his lively and insightful manner, during the election proceedings, he predicted the abstention that will result in the same goal as postponing the election, as called for by ECOWAS.
In September, he was all smiles during the UN General Assembly with some of the AU delegations and one of the candidates for the AU Commission Chairperson.
His African patriotism was felt, and will continue to be cherished, by all who encountered his tenacity. He was, in deed, a port of call in all things Diaspora and Africa. In one of our last conversations, he called and shared with me his plans for a Town-hall meeting on the AU Commission race. Arguably, he had more in store in an active life. Unfortunately and suddenly, he left before this next chapter he was committed to.
In distress, I cannot believe I will be writing this today. I looked forward to consulting with the grand patriot on engaging Member States to facilitate the integration of nationals living in the Diaspora into the political, social and economic life of our Africa and bringing back the Summit, more in line with the legendary Dr. Leon Sullivan days.
His transition has shocked all who knew him, without warning, as the writings below indicate. Unfair! resonates with many.

Subject: USA Africa Dialogue Series - Re: [NaijaPolitics] Re: Dr. Chika Onyeani passed on to eternal gloryThis is not fair! Dr. Onyeani is too present to be "past" or to pass. The man who brought us news with the African Sun, fun and controversies with The Capitalist Nigger, and occasional essays from the Great Apple, is gone to meet his Maker. May all those he left be comforted. Adieu, Chief! You will certainly be missed!

What is going on, folks. I mean I read Dr. Onyeani's popular headlines here not long ago.
What is the "adieu" all about. Would somebody in the know explain.

Vince and Wilson, you ask the same question that is painfully on every lip and waiting for someone to say it ain't so. No way, the patriot philanthropist meant to leave, leaving stunned bewilderment.
"Yes indeed though Chief( Dr.) Onyeani was one of us in Diaspora, we acknowledge with desolation that he was exceptional, was inimitable. He was very forthright, classy and matchless. He was irreplaceable and yes indeed, he was truly a one off in every sense.
Our despondency and grief know no bounds because Dr. Onyeani was a unique gift from God to our nation Nigeria. He was a very brave warrior who was never scarred of death. The irreplaceable Chairman & Founder of African Sun Times -NY can be proud of the obvious fact that he stood for something while here on earth with us. Death cannot kill what never die."Adieu Dr. Chika Onyeani !!!! Shalom!!!
