On January 2016, Robert Mugabe, in his capacity as outgoing Chair of the African Union,
got a standing ovation, for a fiery speech that reminded everyone that the man was still going strong at 94 years.
His message called for a seat for Africa in the Security Council, a reconsideration of the location of the UN and
several other pertinent matters.
The 92 year old superman, the King of defiance, made it to Cuba on November 29 this year,
to honor Fidel Castro and express his gratitude for Cuban assistance during the liberation struggle. He has outlived Fidel Castro. Mugabe has been a liberation fighter, political prisoner, democrat,
land reform activist, originator of the Look East Policy, regional chairperson of the African Union and autocrat.
Mandela: 1918 - 2013
Castro : 1926- 2016
Mugabe: 1924 - present (92 years old)
Who are some other candidates for this "extra-human" political award? I thought of Angela Merkel, Barack Obama, Malema, even Hillary Clinton but Mugabe came out stronger in my book.
Who would you have chosen?
