Today is Africa Day. It's also the 32nd anniversary of the amazing "Hands Across America" event when close to 7 million people held hands across generations, class and race and space to mobilize support for those at the bottom of the socio-economic pyramid.

Together they'll walk
side by side
swinging arms in Arecaceae grace.
Race-less … They'll walk
together gentle, silent, firm
uphill to the vaults
where ancient mysteries hold
memories reposed, exposed
of our triumphs.
And there is nothing
more to it than that.
They'll walk
together, palm in palm, unpegged
by what long strewed shared dreams,
to a world that belongs
to all who live in it
with Peace & Love
