Venue:

The Institute for Sustainable Development in collaboration with Hezekiah University specially invites scholars, professionals, organisations, and students working on all aspects of Nigerian studies to attend its 1st annual international interdisciplinary conference to be held on May 15-17, 2019 at the Academic Complex, Hezekiah University, Umudi, Imo State, Nigeria. To deliberate on the timely theme, Nation Building and Sustainable Development in Nigeria: The Interplay of Political, Socioeconomic, and Environmental Forces, the organisers welcome papers from all perspectives.
The changing but consequential impact of domestic and international forces on the sustainable development of emerging countries such as Nigeria has continued to receive scholarly attention. In recent years, domestic and global forces such as globalization, immigration, emigration, terrorism, election crisis, materialism, Pentecostal revivalism, brain drain, environmental and climatic changes, poverty, economic uncertainties, and sociopolitical unrests, etc., have made it compelling to reexamine and reevaluate Nigeria's nation building project. The organisers encourage local and international specialists, intellectuals, and students working from Interdisciplinary standpoints to join the university in a dialogue that explores the influence of the rapidly changing internal and external environment on the Nigerian world. Through cross-disciplinary engagement, participants will flesh out linkages between the pasts, presents, and possible futures of Nigeria and the need to explore and adopt sustainable development goals towards Nigeria's all round stability and development.
Panels and individual proposals will engage with a variety of topics including but not limited to the following Sub-Themes:
