Truthfully, the official of the Standard Chartered Bank, Ifeoma Okeagbue, only gave details of the balances on the five different accounts operated by CJN Walter Onnoghen. It should be noted that CJN Onnoghen is standing trial for false and non-declaration of assets which Ifeoma Okeagbue's witness would appear to have confirmed. Babatunde Ola-Dada must remember that in an affidavit sworn to by CJN Onnoghen on 14 December 2016, he admitted to having cash in Union Bank, Abuja with account number 0021464934 with the balance of 9 million, 536 thousand and 407 naira (N9,536,407) as at 14 November 2014, as well as in Calabar Union Bank with account number 0012783291 and with a balance of 11 million,456 thousand and 311 naira (N11,456,311) as at 14 November 2014. The sources of the funds in the accounts were stated as salaries, estacodes and allowances. He deliberately concealed the five different accounts in Standard Chartered Bank from his declaration which Ifeoma Okeagbue has now told the CCT that the accounts were opened separately between 2009 and 2010 in euro, pound, dollar and naira denominations.
Reading from the statements of accounts, according to online Punch Nigeria, Ifeoma Okeagbue said, "On account number 5001062686, the opening balance in January 2018 was €30,178 .58. As at December 2018, the balance was €10,187 .18; On account number 5001062693, the opening balance in January 2018 was N 6,411,312.77. As at December 2018, the balance was N12, 852,580.52; On account number 5001062679, the opening balance as at January 2018 was £39,456.08 and by December 2018 the balance was £13,730.70; On account number 0001062667, the opening balance as at January 2018 was N24,280,904 and as at December 2018, the balance was N2,656,019.21; and on account number 0001062650, the opening balance as at January 2018 was $80,824.25 and by January 2019, the balance was $56,878." Relevant to the trial of Onnoghen, and which was not stated, is how much funds the aforementioned accounts contained at the time of his asset declaration. Babatunde Ola-Dada should understand that CJN Onnoghen is not being prosecuted for failure to declare the amounts contained in the accounts in 2018 but what they contained in 2016 when belatedly he declared his assets without including his Standard Bank accounts. Interestingly, part of the CCB's report of January 2019 revealed that between 8 March and 28 June 2011, CJN Onnoghen personally made cash deposits totalling $190,000. We are talking about Chief Justice of Nigeria and not Chief Accountant of Nigeria. Therefore, that Chief Justice Onnoghen's dollar account had a balance of $56,878 by January 2019 does not rule out that he might have had $3 million in that account in 2016 when he committed false declaration of assets.

Today, I was at the Code of Conduct Tribunal for the trial of the suspended CJN Walter Onnoghen. Two prosecution witnesses testified.
The first witness (PW2), an ex director of the Code of ,Conduct Bureau amongst other things, testified that Onnoghen has only 5 houses as against the 55 he is accused of. He also stated that Onnoghen assets declaration form has not been VERIFIED.
The second witness (PW3), a staff of Standard Chartered bank gave account balance of Onnoghen as:
(1) 10,000 Euros
(2) 12,852,580 Naira
(3) 13,730 Pounds
(4) 2,656,019 Naira
(5) 56,878 Dollars.
These are against the alleged $3million in the media.
The witness also testified that the account in hard currency are domiciliary account operated in Nigeria and not foreign accounts. That most of the money was interests of reinvestment of his money by the bank.
