4 days before that horrific mass shooting in Christchurch,New Zealand mosques that killed 49 people,52 Nigerians were killed in a similar way in Inkirimi and Dogonnoma villages in Maro Kajuru LGA of Kaduna state. The victims included women and children.It didnt make headlines!

I thought that news of the Ethiopian airline crash the previous day and Pius Adesanmi being on the flight dominated the media until the Christchurch shooting on 15 March but on that same day,10 people were shot in Nandu village in the same Kajuru LGA.

More than 120 have been killed in similar ways in the same area of Kaduna state within one month,yet there are no headlines or outrage.

It shows up in the way we see ourselves, in the way government treats the people, and the people, the way they treat themselves.

It is sad and leaves you wondering, if we have not played ourselves into a hole and if our concerns are no more than just for trends and the social media 'feel good' herd mentality.

Then some of us have been numbed by the incessant but needless loss of lives across Nigeria, more so by the lack of repercussions that greets these sad occurrences, from communal/religious to the utter irresponsibility of those in government and private circle.

We are now so numbed, it bothers on indifference.

Samuel Okereke It's simple; we don't care what happens here. We see the west as a superior race that deserve our attention. We're easily drawn by what happen in another clime by ignoring our own. It's like chasing a rats while your house is on fire. Another factor isreligion. We react with sentiment. A Muslim is killed, Muslims will condemn such but once it's Christians, the same Muslims will shut their ears and mouth. Same is applicable to Christians. We react when two or more of our own die but immediately it's people of other faith, we believe they should sort themselves out. It has been psychologically proven that man easily defend and speak against injustice metted to those who confirm their sentiment and bias. It takes high level of humanity to speak out when injustice are done to any tribe, religion and race.

We live in a country where it seems the government has legitimized killings of citizens. The outrage must be seen transmitting from the leadership of the country across the whole world.

If you Mbe Nwaniga decide to carry the news of these massacres on your timeline, soon, someone would say you're heating up the polity. Others would say you're carrying fake news. I have been called a bigot and a hater of Buhari for simply mentioning that the president was not doing enough to stop the violence going on.

When a building collapses in Lagos and no word is heard from the president, it sends a message to the rest of the world. We don't care about lives in Nigeria . Do you know how many died so that politicians would win elections a few weeks ago? These things, and our tribal and religious sensibilities matter more than human lives.

Yeah, cows are rustled or killed and they make headlines. The media houses would be accused by this government and their supporters of all sorts of things if they dare report the harvest of blood going on.

Okorie Kelvin O Violence and mass murders in Kaduna as in some part of Northern Nigeria are recurrent issue such that Nigerians and indeed the world has become desensitized to it.
Don't expect us to keep screaming bloody murder when it doesn't yield any results.

Again generally people don't just post on social media to make sense or because it is the right thing to do. It is more of a popularity contest. The overriding interest being to get more likes, and views. So only post that have such market values, which #kadunakillingshave lost are shared with much enthusiasm.

Muyiwa D. Ilegbusi It's because we've become inured, immune, unperturbed, accepted and normalized the news of mass killings in our land. Of what use is our hue and cry when over and over and over again people get killed in their scores and those responsible are not brought to book? Even in many instances, state actors are complicit in the cover-up. So of what use is our angst?

Jerome Jr Nwonuma Violence in Nigeria is orchestrated by design because it is part of an intentional business strategy to assure that Nigeria's oil resources continues to flow to the West.
It is the price of normal business dealings.
Like Venezuela, if Nigeria's government decides to do right by it's citizens, and divert the oil resources to the development of the country, the west will sow seeds of discord to prevent that from happening so as to continue reaping their benefits.
Nigeria dosen't have sense at all.

Dorothy Chinenye Frank-Taylor Any attempt to demand performance from present day govt will be attacked by Its blind supporters, Nigerians not foreigners o. They will pour so much venom on you in their attempt to convince you to accept their false phrase of "the government is trying" and even delete you if you dare ask this government to do the needful. Whose duty is it to protect its citizens? Why can't this govt use the same force we witnessed during the elections to entrench peace in Nigeria but no, their families are not among those poor kaduna people being slaughtered. The deafening silence from Well meaning Nigerians whose voices could make a difference is sickening e.g the Imams, the pastors etc
