If you are an Igbo twin, and you hate Christianity, you are a 'bornfool'! Christianity would have allowed you to be thrown into the evil forest of your village.

If your family was ohu (slave), and you hate Christianity, you are very 'iberibed'! Christianity would have allowed you to be buried alive as you escort a titled man to the other world.

If you cut your upper teeth first, and you hate Christianity, you a first-class efulefu! Christianity would have allowed you to be dumped in the evil forest of your village or sold to Aro slave dealers.

If you have children who are not up to two years apart, and you hate Christianity, you are a cow head! Christianity would have allowed your younger child to be sold to Aro slave dealers.

If you did not walk before three years, and you hate Christianity, ibu okpo! Christianity would have allowed your people destroy you.

If you suffer from diabetes, liver and/or kidney problems... and you hate Christianity, you are not just efulefu, you are 'efoolefool' (a-fool-a-fool). Christianity would have allowed you be a candidate for dumping in the evil forest at death.

If you as a woman started seeing your period too early, and you hate Christianity, you are an unfortunate aturu. Christianity would have allowed you to be sold to Aro slave dealers.

Before you hate Christianity, make sure this same Christianity is not the reason why you are alive and free today, lest Karma remembers your house address. Anyone trying to make you believe that Christianity came with no good might just be a former Aro slave dealer or a former priest in charge of your village evil forest, please, run from such 😎😎😎

      That said ... it wasn't across all of Igboland ... as with all customs, not everything is homogeneous to all of the land.

    Ike Chi-ukwu Eluigwe Some time ago, Ify China Onyeabo wrote how it was Igbo practice that married Igbo daughters are taken home for burial. I was one of those who argued with her fiercely. Only to recently learn that in my Nkpa Abia state it was once practiced 😲😲😲 On learning also that it was practiced in so many other communities spanning all the Igbo states, I have since humbled myself. We learn everyday!

    Desmond Amaechị Even till today, children accused of being witches and Wizards are still killed somewhere in Akwa Ibom. It was in same region that twins were exterminated in the past.

    Maybe a few Igbo towns participated in the killing of twins but it was never widesp    read to be termed Igbo culture. 
    Most Igbo communities never killed twins. Same with several parts of Nigeria. Only a handful of towns did, especially around Calabar.

    Mary Slessor worked where the practice was endemic. It's unfortunate that the people of that very region still kill children with ease for other reprehensible reasons

    It's wrong for you to begin to stir the embers if hate against Aros in this age. Every Igbo community must share in the blame for the sale of slaves in the olden days, not just the Aros.

Often, villagers call them to come and buy people they want to dispose of. People were sold for stealing. People were sold for refusing to pay debts. People were sold when deemed abnormal. The Aro were doing business. Most of these sales had community approval; and often, the elders shared the proceeds. We are all guilty!

She began in Calabar and moved into the Igbo hinterland. One of the Scottish pounds still bear her face, with a map of where she carried out her mission which include calabar, Arochukwu, etc. I am a twin, and I am also from Aro and my people engaged in this sordid act in those days, so I happen to know a lot about the killing of twins in Igboland

For instance, if I wrote , were it not for the Nigerian army, Bakassi boys would have killed Nkem; that does not in any way imply that jungle justice was a part of the religion of the people. On your second question, Westerners were highly influenced by Christian thoughts. So, in a way, Christianity stopped those things.
