I don't want to be in a hurry to leave South Africa, the land of talents, where a long history of repression produced songs of liberation and empowerment. If our talents in some parts of West Africa sing in praise of men, our talents in South Africa speak to revolution, discrimination, etc.
Yvonne Chaka is famous in the charity world, the recipient of the World Economic Forum's Award. Her face is commonplace on South African television, actually the first black child to appear on TV. She has co-performed with all the greats, including Mirian Makeba and Hugh Masekela. Like you and I, she is also a professor!
Let us listen to the "Princess of Africa," her nickname, starting with a song (Thank You Mr. DJ) that is so well-known that, if this is new to you, I am afraid you live on another planet.
Thank you Chaka for "Thank You Mr DJ"
