The ramadan is not optional for believers, classified as one of the five pillars of Islam. It is not about skipping meals for the sake of it but for reflections, prayer, maintaining stronger connections to Allah, and avoiding sin. As we celebrate one of the holiest months in Islam, let us all pray for peace. Let us not fight wars over religion. Let us not frame other human beings as evil and terrorists but as co-travelers in the planet we all must protect.
And here comes the General, Kollington Ayinla, the chanter who specializes in collage, pioneer of Juju, along with Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, his estranged friend and rival. Heavy on percussion, an accomplished word manufacturer, he infused his music with moral stories, drawing from Islamic and local worldview. Combining panache and poise, the General creates both rhythms and lyrics at the speed of light. Starting with just a playful group, he created a revolution.
