Wow, what a book! I finally got through it and I hope other folks have read it and we could chat over it. At any rate, and for whatever it's worth, I have a few observations:
1. If anyone is looking for literary merit, you won't find it there;
2. If the reader is looking for humor, maybe, a few might be found but nothing to write home about;
3. If someone wants a good psychological analysis of a sociopath, and the making of a monster, boy, this book paints it so vividly; and
4. If a reader is looking for a quintessential dysfunctional family, yep, the book is its modern day Bible.
I am afraid, though, for two reasons, the book might backfire. This is what I mean:
1. It might actually draw people to Donald Trump by sympathizing with him as, paradoxically, being a product of someone who was mentally abused by being materially over-pampered, thanks in no small way to the father, Freed Trump; and
2. While it is very likely that much of its content is true, a reliance on secondary and tertiary sources might call the work to question in the mind of the reader and not make it as authentic as one would like to believe it to be.
In all, it is an interesting read and it's worth the time. As the author rightly said, albeit sarcastically, it is clear that the nation has voted itself into becoming a macrocosm of the Trump dysfunctional family. Can't you see?
Kudos to Mary L. Trump!
