Subject: Fw: Chancellor's Professor Obioma Nnaemeka to receive Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters in Paris, France
On Monday, May 23, 2022, at the Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris, France, The American University of Paris (AUP) will confer on Chancellor's Professor Obioma Nnaemeka an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters. The award announcement by Professor Nnaemeka's Dean (below) comes with the award letter from the President, American University of Paris (see attached).
A.B. Assensoh.
Dear Colleagues,
This week, I was pleased to learn that Professor Obioma Nnaemeka has accepted an invitation to receive a doctorate honoris causa in humane letters from The American University (AUP) Paris, France, at its 60th Anniversary Commencement in Spring 2022.
An honorary doctorate from AUP is a well-deserved honor for Professor Nnaemeka. It is also an honor for the School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI to have one of our outstanding faculty and public scholars recognized in this way. IUPUI is fortunate to have incredibly gifted, influential, and impactful humanities faculty. Professor Nnaemeka is a shining example of how an engaged multicultural, interdisciplinary scholar and activist can advance knowledge and improve lives. As AUP President Schneck notes in her attached letter to Professor Nnaemeka, "In your scholarship, you have addressed critical issues of democracy, health, human rights, and conflict resolution, refusing to remain locked in an ivory tower of ideas and theory." Please join me in congratulating Professor Nnaemeka!
Warm regards,
Tami
