we had an excellent film on a similar topic, for the asa competition last year. called "Becoming Black" by Inez Johnson-Spain." Raised german, discovers she is half african--nigerian, in fact. or maybe sierra leonian. goes back to the family, interviews them, discovers a side of herself besides german, a self-discovery. well done film. and does show others in the same boat, with the same experiences of growing up in germany with the racism and pain caused by it.
i believe her case was in east germany, in her childhood.
