In the good old days ( before the divide and conquer and the Igbo-Yoruba rivalry) was there a standard procedure for e.g. deposing a sitting Oba because of alleged lacklustre performance, old age, insurmountable difficulties, dereliction of duty, incapacitation? Ignoramus would like to know.
Nowadays, there's always the opposition (losers in the last election) who along with their supporters and the networks of patronage that are their usual ethnic and financial strongholds, are always more than willing - as a collective - to gather around to show their solidarity , hopeful that as soon as possible they will replace whatever incumbent government with one that will shower them with the largesse that comes from those that they will vote into power and direct access to state coffers.
I daresay, there are a number of false assumptions and questionable analogies in the submission that SKC Ogbonnia has presented for our consideration.
No respect: Why does he make the case of USA's most famous, living Octogenarian Joe Biden the lychpin of his diatribe against our dear Presidential Elder Bola Ahmed Tinubu?
Is it because in his (SKC Ogbonnia's) political cosmology and in his political heaven ( inferiority complex?) Joe Biden's United States is his nearest planet, brightest constellation and role model from where to take inspiration, wisdom and direction as to what to do with the kind of leadership problem that he finds himself experiencing in Nigeria?
Is that why he has chosen to so conveniently ignore - or as his own first sign of forgetfulness / dementia, to not remember or to overlook the more glaring examples that are nearer at hand , that of 91-year old Paul Biya, the president of Cameroon, Nigeria's nearest neighbour to the east, Mr. Biya who has been in power (office) since 1982 and like Johnnie Walker is still going strong?
Is that why he also neglects to reference Robert Mugabe who after ruling Zimbabwe for 37 years was finally ousted by members of his own party in a coup in 2017, at the ripe old age of 92 years and 9 months ?
Ogbonnnia's reason could be that there's no reason for delving into ancient history in search of precedents, after all the case of Biden - now on vacation - is topical and fresh even in the Octogenarian's memory, but here are what I consider to be the false assumptions and questionable analogies 👍
The first three paragraph are nothing but vile ad hominem and accusations that are general in nature, both veiled and unveiled, " gross misrule ", "the height of dictatorship" and perhaps lately inspired by the diatribes against Trump from where he translates that malaise into what's happening on his home turf in Nigeria, he adds for good measure, that our dear Tinubu is " a threat to Nigeria's democracy" - "bad governance" supposed to resonate with his US-Democrat sympathisers, and finally again this kind of negative wishful thinking hinting at Biden's demise and disappearance, that President Tinubu's conundrum
"has roots in both his mental and physical conditions", and the last straw, Ogbonnia's ultimate cringing sycophancy makes you want to puke: " now is Tinubu's turn to emulate a good American example ( Biden's) for a change.", all in all the kind of uncle tom vocabulary that amounts to an impressive and formidable array on paper without any concrete tangible evidence to support that kind of petition to whoever it is that will be occupying the White House in the very near future.
What is he suggesting? That - God forbid - 72 year old President Tinubu is suffering from dementia?
Shamefully, Ogbonnia spends the next eight paragraphs trying to give the impression that he is the President's doctor and that he knows better than anybody else about President Tinubu's physical and mental state. In his final paragraph he finally degenerates into not making any sense and still wants to be taken seriously when he writes, " He ( Tinubu) has already proven why a vast majority of Nigerians rejected him at the election that brought him to power." If " a vast majority of Nigerians rejected him at the election that brought him to power" how then did he win the election? Your Ignoramus in Texas would like to know.
Augustine Togonu-Bickersteth was at least a lot more humble when he wrote, in one of his numerous takes on Mr. President in a genuine brother's keeper spirit sweetly recommending that Mr. President who spends so many hours at his desk, should please make sure that he gets enough rest
Of relevance to future diatribes on fuel subsidy, no fuel subsidy, and on the shameless demonization of Aliko Dangote etc,
