Israel has killed Yahya Sinwar, the head of Hamas. Mr Sinwar is thought to be the planner behind the October 7th terror attack last year; his death may raise the slim chances of a ceasefire, and even a regional de-escalation. Iran has been beaten back, with its proxies Hamas and Hizbullah decimated. But this week we publish an investigation into how it has managed to stay afloat and even spend billions making mayhem despite tough sanctions. Some of its business practices are similar to those of a drug cartel.
