US President Donald Trump has ordered a "total and complete" blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers to and from Venezuela, he writes on Truth Social.

The announcement comes days after the US seized an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has accused the US of theft and demanded that the country end its interventions.
Venezuela condemns Trump's new statement, calling it "irrational" and "a grotesque threat."
The Venezuelan government says in a statement that Trump's blockade aims to "robe" the Venezuelan people of their wealth, writes the Efe news agency.
The armada off the Venezuelan coast, led by the US aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford, will "only get bigger" until Venezuela returns "all the oil, land, and other assets that they previously stole from us," Trump claims in the post on Truth Social.
At the same time, the president states that the regime in Venezuela has been labeled a terrorist organization by the United States.
The United States has in recent months carried out attacks on ships allegedly transporting drugs off the coast of Venezuela. Trump has blamed Venezuela's Maduro for the attacks. Several American warships are also in the waters of the Caribbean Sea near Venezuela.
