Diaspora Engagement Seminar #1 screencast now available
Diaspora Engagement Mini-SeriesDiaspora entrepreneurs are increasingly recognized as playing an active role in job creation and economic growth in their countries of origin or ancestry through the establishment of new businesses. Recognizing business opportunities and assessing the myriad risks of doing business, these entrepreneurs are going ahead to start small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that are offering new products and services, thereby fostering innovation and job growth in the marketplace of their country of origin.Seeking to explore prospects and challenges that exist for diaspora entrepreneurship, USAID will focus its second seminar of an ongoing Diaspora Engagement Seminar series on diaspora-driven entrepreneurship. Join us for a breakfast seminar with some of the leading researchers on this topic alongside an Ethiopian diaspora entrepreneur. Zelalem Dagne will share his personal experiences as one of the 14 recipients of a $100,000 prize in the jointly-led Western Union-USAID African Diaspora Marketplace business plan competition launched in 2010.This breakfast seminar will be streamed live to provide an opportunity for staff from USAID field missions and non-profit organizations in developing countries to participate. We invite you to register and join us for this exciting discussion.
