Thank you Chidi for the social commentary you run through your mobilising poetry. I share here an 'amateur' verse around our January Uprising:
The Vultures Are Gathering:
The vultures are gathering
Flying high
and swooping low
Beak poised for choice
sections of the carion
Salivating...Anxiously swarming
Waiting to feed
On the carcass
of our January Uprising
The Vultures are posturing
appropriating our
collective deeds...
Holding captive..
Our strained voice
Those who only yesterday
Disparaged our quest
To Occupy
Are now claiming
ownership of its outcome!
They who asked us
voice laden with anger
and disdain:
'Why Occupy'?
And shouted...Occupy where?
Now prance about
the village square....
the new face of opposition?
Our name they have stolen
Our wealth they partook
in looting
Our movement
they proclaim theirs...
Our vision
they pervert...
The vultures are gathering
and we whose body
they feed on
as maggots on a corpse
Beware........

Oga big bank governor,
You dey share our money
For your village bomb victim dem
Like say na your money.
As you dey share,
Make you share reach everybody,
All of us for Naija na victim.
Who dey for Naija
Wey no be victim?
Some na bomb victim,
Some na disease victim,
Some na thief victim,
Some na hunger victim.
Which one I go talk,
Which one I no go talk.
All of us for Naija na victim.
Even sef
We be your victim.
You siddon for big bank
Dey speak big grammar,
Our money dey disappear.
Di small one wey remain
You carry go share
For your village bomb victim dem.
You share two,
You say you share four.
Oga big bank governor,
As you dey share
Make you share reach all of us,
All of us for Naija na victim.
