The forces against change are the ones benefitting from these institutions. These quangos provide jobs for the boys and contracts for the warriors of the Lion. The rationalisation of tertiary institutions was announced same day by Ogun and Ekiti states. Ekiti people saw the need to position their educational institutions to produce high quality manpower. But those who were unable to provide adequate funding in their days in power are the same people mounting a campaign to stop Ogun State govt. I am endeared to the policies of the Gov Amosun's administration. The promotion of social justice through the land and truth judicial commissions is commendable. The two commissions are providing the opportunities for helpless aggrieved residents to seek redress. Not until I attended some sittings of the commission, I never realised that the previous regime was issuing C of O indiscriminately. In Ogun State, there are hundreds of plots of land with each plot belonging to 3 or 4 people. All with C of O issued by the Daniel's regime. In respect to the Truth Commission, many victims of the former public officials have petitioned the Truth Commission. The courageous initiative of the Amosun's govt on tackling the rots in the educational sector is second to none. While others play to the political gallery by establishing more of these glorified secondary schools called tertiary institutions, the govt decided to take the bull by the horn. The proposed rationalisation of our tertiary institutions will free resources for proper funding of OOU. The current students will be allowed to graduate before the completion of the merger. The govt has taken a strategic view of the educational sector. The communities are beginning to warm up to the idea. We are beginning to see the difference and compare notes on governance. I'm in the same page air.

In truth, with this song of success again, we can all - sincerely, too - say that Ogun State is on course. As such, all lovers of development should rejoice even as Gov. Amosun can only be asked to do more.
I even learnt a similar feat was achieved about the same time in Ondo State.
Sir, one of our banes as a country and a people is the ability of some people to populate the political space without understanding the rudiments or the true essence of politics, democracy and good governance. It is not about noise-making,ranting or platitudes. Rather, it is about the genuine pursuit of the Common Good!
