UNICEF's flagship report focuses this year on the situation of children growing up in urban settings. It addresses disaster risk within the third chapter, considering urban challenges, and includes a special focus on women, children, disaster and resilience in the Philippines. Using some specific examples, it illustrates the emergence of initiatives aimed at reducing disaster risk, the growing recognition of the role children in helping themselves and their communities to be safe and calls for climate change adaptation strategies and disaster risk reduction plans and measures to increase infrastructure resiliency to be implemented.
